This is a fantastic opportunity to take the lead with so many strong brands, managing relationships with brand owners and vendors. What is important is that you have worked in a Brand/Category/Product role before and understand the pace and energy that comes with this. Use your skills to develop and implement strategies to increase sales to drive sustainable growth.
As you will know when you work within the product and category space within the retail sector no two days are the same, you need to enjoy multitasking, moving from one deadline to another depending on the time of year or the needs of the stores. Customers rely on you to provide advice so they can concentrate on the big picture, taking care of their customers first and foremost by providing the best quality and innovative interesting products.
This means that the Product team must be one or two steps ahead with analysis, brand positioning and customer insights.
It is crucial that you can demonstrate these key attributes:
Adaptability, analytical thinking, excellent time management, resilience, high attention to detail, ability to work to deadlines, a strong work ethic and clear communication skills. Let’s not forget that a sense of humour and consideration for others is important as you will be the point of contact for both internal and external teams.
