Are you looking for a Receptionist – Part Time role in Auckland?

  • King’s College, frontline role within a welcoming school community
  • Enjoy 40 weeks work a year instead of the normal 48 weeks
  • A fantastic job combining excellent communication & problem-solving skills

Schools are busy and have lots of moving parts, King’s College focusses on providing a welcoming and positive experience as soon as you walk through the front door. Whether the interaction is with a student, parent/guardian, or colleague the frontline administrator is the go-to person for problem solving and assistance.  This role is so essential as it’s the connection for the community to the school and vice versa.

You’ll want to be part of this welcoming and supportive environment, as you can imagine with a busy school office there is always something going on and plenty of people to be talking to and helping with a variety of things.  If you’re seeking a job where you can use your excellent customer service and administration skills, then this role will be rewarding. The staff and team at this well-resourced and highly regarded school are genuine, positive, and committed.

There are well-established systems in place and plenty of training can be provided on the internal school database, but it is important that you have good computer skills and enjoy using technology.   The key focus is on engaging with students, colleagues, and families to listen and connect enquiries to the best people in the school.  Working with purpose and independence will really go a long way as this is the hard-working nature of the school.

This job will allow you to draw upon and combine your customer service and administration experience.  Having the ability to gain trust and understand what someone is needing is a real skill and will draw upon excellent listening, multitasking, problem solving skills and combining your calm manner, putting people at ease so they trust you have things under control.  As you can imagine there is a need for a high standard of written and verbal communication, while being happy to be hands on, a school is a fluid and changing environment so thinking quickly and professionally is needed.

Establishing, building, and maintaining strong relationships is the key to making this role a huge success as well as moving from one task to another with ease.  An example of daily responsibilities would include visitor management, cash handling, newsletter coordination, attendance register monitoring, uniform processing, assisting the principal and academic staff as required.  The chance is also there if you choose to be involved with ad hoc projects.

Are you a naturally warm and engaging person with the ability to think on your feet and make decisions?  If you like working in a positive environment where variety is guaranteed and where you can take ownership of your job and have the support of the wider team, then look no further.

Your key strengths should be along the lines of being a self-starter, practical in your approach, being the go-to person for many different groups of people and being hands on with a positive helpful outlook.  The combination of customer service and administration experience is essential to really add immediate impact to this busy and varied role.  Also taking pride in keeping workspaces tidy and being confidential with information are crucial to the success of this opportunity.
